An international workshop…

…with the aim of defining the nature of Ignatian Advocacy will take place in Madrid, Spain, from 10 to 16 November 2008. Over 40 lay and Jesuit participants from all continents will represent the diverse Jesuit efforts at advocacy. Un taller internacional…

…con el objetivo de definir la naturaleza Ignaciana de la incidencia, tendrá lugar en Madrid, España, desde 10 al 16 de Noviembre del 2008. Más de cuarenta participantes tanto laicos como Jesuitas de todos los continentes, representaran los diferentes esfuerzos Jesuitas en incidencia. Some history

“For some time, the Social Justice Secretariat (SJS) has been supporting efforts to establish advocacy channels in Africa, Latin America and Asia. The Assistancy Coordinators of the social apostolate have often urged SJS to look for best practices among Jesuit social centres and institutions engaged in advocacy and to reflect on a feasible Jesuit response that takes into consideration local, national and international realities.

At a meeting on Ignatian apostolic discernment convened in July 2007 at Drongen, Belgium, this office committed itself to support a proposal to organise an international workshop on Jesuit Advocacy. The experience of Drongen, we thought, had provided useful insights for a workshop of this kind.”

Un poco de historia

“Durante algún tiempo, el Secretariado para la Justicia Social (SJS) ha estado respaldando esfuerzos para establecer canales de incidencia en África, América Latina y Asia. Los Coordinadores de Asistencia del apostolado social han animado con frecuencia al SJS para que busque mejores prácticas entre los centros sociales e instituciones jesuitas dedicados a la incidencia y reflexione sobre una respuesta jesuítica factible que tome en consideración realidades locales, nacionales e internacionales.

En una reunión sobre discernimiento apostólico Ignaciano convocada en Julio 2007 en Drongen, Bélgica, esta oficina se comprometió a apoyar una propuesta para organizar un taller internacional sobre Incidencia Ignaciana. Pensamos que la experiencia de Drongen ha proporcionado ideas útiles para un taller de este tipo.”
